Philosophy
We believe that all children have limitless potential to learn and be successful. Our goal is to partner with families, to provide authentic learning experiences and a rigorous education to ensure that we meet the needs of each individual student.

Meet the 2nd Grade Team
Parent Expectations:
- *Check take home folder/binder daily.
- *Sign behavior calendars/agendas daily.
- * Make sure your child has completed their homework daily (Monday-Thursday).
- *Send any money for lunch or field trips in an envelope or clear sandwich bag with your child's name, teacher's name, and cafeteria number on the outside of the envelope/clear sandwich bag.
- *Always contact your child's teacher if you have questions, concerns, or would like to volunteer your time and/or services.

Grading Policy:
- 4 Mastery - 90-100% and above
- 3 Proficient - 80-89%
- 2 Emerging Understanding - 70-79%
- 1 Needs Improvement - 69% and below
- Escala de Calificación:
- 4 - 90-100% and above - dominio de las habilidades
- 3 80-89% - Competente, completado independente

Homework:
Every student will have at least 2 days of math homework, 2 days language arts homework and spelling homework. Each teacher will check homework for understanding and completion and give feedback and support. Grading: check
Cada estudiante tendrá por lo menos 2 días de tarea de matemáticas, 2 días de tarea de escritura, lectura y ortografía diaria. Cada maestra/o revisará la tarea para asegurarse que el estudiante entiende y completa la tarea con el fin de apoyarlo.
Spelling:
Each teacher will give spelling words based on phonics spelling patterns learned and practiced in the classroom. There will be a spelling assessment EVERY FRIDAY over the words learned each week.

Behavior Management:
Every 2nd grade class will have a "peace area" for students to calm down and solve problems with friends. Each teacher will implement "Positive Behavior Support" by helping students understand and manage their emotions while setting and achieving positive goals through:
* Self-awareness
*Self-management
*Social awareness
*Relationship skills
*Responsible decision making
Manejo de Comportamiento:
Cada clase de segundo grado tendrá una "zona de paz" para que los estudiantes se calmen y resuelvan sus problemas con sus compañeros donde podrán reflexionar sobre los problemas o comportamientos.
