John C. Blazier Elementary School
Hello! Thanks for visiting my page!
I am the VERY PROUD principal of John C. Blazier Elementary School! I have had the privilege of working at Blazier since 2008. I was born and raised in Austin, Texas and proud to say I attended and am the product of AISD schools! I attended Sánchez Elementary, Odom Elementary, Bedichek Middle School and Travis High School. I then attended the University of Texas at Austin where I earned my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees. I have worked as a bilingual educator in AISD since 1998. Wow! I can't believe it's been over 20 years! I have two boys that attended Blazier Elementary and are also products of AISD public schools. Both of my sons graduated from Akins HS and absolutely loved their experience there. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love going to baseball games, going to a fun movie, or out for fun family time!
I am lucky to say that I truly love my job as the principal of Blazier Elementary, both Primary and Intermediate Sites! I am proud of the FAMILY we have created and has grown in our school community. I have the honor of working with amazing students, parents, teachers and staff. The best part of y job is connecting with people everyday and watching our students learn, grow and excel every single day! Together, we work hard to provide the best education and elementary school experience for all of our Blue Jays!
Blue Jays! Dream Big, Soar High!

I am honored and excited to join the Blazier Primary and Intermediate Blue Jay team as the Academic Dean. My name is Norma Martínez. I was born in Guanajuato (Gto), Mexico and raised in Gto and California. I am the proud daughter of Migrant parents, Lorenzo and Lilia Pérez and a first-generation graduate. I hold a Bachelors of Arts in education from California State University, Fresno and Masters in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University and Texas State University.
I began my career as an elementary bilingual teacher in 1997. During my educational career I have had the honor to teach amazing bilingual and ESL students in grades kinder through 5th. This will be my 18th year with Austin ISD, where I have served as a bilingual teacher, reading specialist, instructional coach and assistant principal. My favorite part of the day is engaging with students, parents, teachers, and staff. I enjoy being part of all the magic that happens throughout the day!
I am married and have three wonderful daughters! All my daughters have attended and were part of AISD’s Bilingual-Biliterate, Dual Language Program. Jazmín and Cristal are currently attending Texas State University and Iris, my youngest will be a sophomore at LASA. We love to spend time with one another, enjoying friends and family in a back yard cook out or attending their schools’ events. During my free time I enjoy going for long walks in my neighborhood, listening to music or watching movies.
I look forward to meeting and working with each one of you.

Assistant Principal-Blazier Intermediate
Anita Nuñez
Hello, Blue Jay families! My name is Anita Nuñez, and I am one of the Assistant Principals of Blazier Intermediate.
I am excited to begin my 18th year in education and my second year at Blazier. I am originally from Houston, TX, and I graduated in 2007 from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Arts in English and minors in Education and Mexican-American Studies. I taught high school English for six years and earned my Master's Degree before moving to Austin.
Before joining the Blazier family, I worked at AISD Headquarters as an AVID Program Specialist, supporting campuses across the district with college and career readiness. As a first-generation college graduate, I strive to provide educational opportunities for all students. Prior to that role, I taught English and the AVID Elective in AISD as well.
I am also married and a proud mom to two wonderful children who have been a part of the DL program at Blazier. We love to explore new places, parks, and experiences, and we visit family in Houston often. We also have three dogs and a bearded dragon.
Some of my favorites include Tex-Mex Food, Dr. Pepper, Sour Patch Kids, and Iced Coffee! I love being a part of the Blazier community as a school leader and a parent, and I look forward to this awesome school year ahead!

Hello Blue Jay Families! I am so happy that I get to be one of the assistant principals on this wonderful campus for the 3rd year!!
This is the beginning of my 42nd year in our district. Prior to my retirement in 2012, I was an elementary school principal for 11 years. I decided to retire to stay home and help care for my first granddaughter but quickly realized that I was not a stay-at-home grandma. I quickly started substituting for administrators and have subbed on many campuses as well as in different departments at Headquarters for the past 12 years.
I am originally from Brownsville, Texas but have called Austin home for all these years. I graduated from Southwest Texas State University, aka Texas State, and started teaching as soon as I graduated. I've taught mostly upper grades and spent one year in a middle school prior to leaving the classroom for an administrative position. I have one beautiful daughter, 2 super fun granddaughters and twin bonus grandsons. I do enjoy spending time with them since they live less than a mile from my home but spending time on the Blazier campus, with such a strong administrative team, wonderful staff members and getting to know our Blue Jays really makes my days happy. Go Blue Jays!!
